Water environments
Stage 1 - Human Society and its Environment
Program
'Water environments' is a Stage 1 excursion delivered at Longneck Lagoon Environmental Education Centre. Students dipnet for aquatic macroinvertebrates, collecting and representing data to assess the health of Dragonfly Creek. They explore Longneck Lagoon, using their senses to observe and describe the freshwater ecosystem. To document their observations, they create a sound map and field sketch. Additionally, students undertake hands-on investigations to understand how water moves in the landscape and learn about ways to care for their catchment area.
